ITA’s campus in Nicaragua is interviewing qualified persons with a Masters in Education or TESOL for a part time TEFL course instructor.

 

TEFL Instructor Position Available:

 

Instructor of TEFL/TESOL Training Course

International TEFL Academy Nicaragua, https://nicaraguatefl.com,  is looking for an experienced TEFL Instructor for our in-person TEFL/TESOL 4 week course located in Leon, Nicaragua. Our students are native or near native English speakers who are training to become professional English teachers around the world – for either short or long term contracts.

 

Length of contract:

In-Person TEFL/TESOL Certification Class:

This is a long-term position. Each in-person class is a total of 4 weeks long, Monday through Friday, with a maximum of 12 TEFL students.  We are looking for Instructors on a part time basis. Roles and responsibilities are to lead and develop specific modules of instruction, observe and give constructive feedback.

 

Position Start Date:

We are looking for an Instructor to begin training as early as February 22nd 2016. Training will be held in accordance with availability of both the instructor and director.

 

About us:

International TEFL Academy Nicaragua is a professional TEFL certification school training students to become certified English language instructors with the purpose of teaching English Abroad.  We are part of a worldwide network of schools that train and certify over 3500 TEFL instructors annually. Our mission is to provide the finest TEFL/TESOL training in Nicaragua, at an affordable cost, and highly interactive format that facilitates a student centered classroom for our students.

 

Our students:

The majority of our students are from the U.S. or Canada but we may have one or two students in each class from Europe, Australia, and Latin America.  The age ranges are typically between 21 and 60 with most students fresh out of college.

 

Our Curriculum:

Our curriculum is extensive and meets or exceeds the international standards for TEFL/TESOL certification requirements set by the British Council.  We are part of a larger network of International TEFL/TESOL schools with an accredited curriculum and history of nearly 20 years in the field.  The content is comprised of 180 hours of academic work with an additional 10 hours of practicum.

Training Format:

In-Person TEFL Course:

Our in-person TEFL Course takes place at our Leon, Nicaragua campus. From the  San Francisco Church, 2 blocks and 75 meters west, Leon, Nicaragua.  The class is divided into morning and afternoon sessions, with practice teaching done in the evening, from 5:15-8:10.

 

Your background in teaching English abroad and in Nicaragua:

It is extremely important that as an instructor you are able to share your background in teaching English overseas with your students.   Your students will constantly look to you for guidance and reassurance.

 

Your Main Responsibilities:

Develop and lead instructional modules.

Course Observer: Instruct students on the basic principles of teaching English as a Foreign Language.

Assignment Feedback: Provide constructive and timely feedback on students’ lesson plans and practicum performance.

Resources: Share outside resources with students – additional videos, websites, etc. that will aid the students in their learning.

 

Requirements for this Position:

– MEd, MA TESOL or higher

– 1 or more years of overseas teaching experience

– Experience teaching ESL or EFL

– Willingness to share teaching experience with students

– Nicaraguan residents or persons willing to apply for residency preferred

 

The anticipated amount of hours is between 30 and 50 hours per course.  Hours vary between instructors.
